Deck lighting is a very popular option we offer at MAD Fence.  Pretty much everyone chooses it to pair with their deck installation–and for good reason.  It’s mostly low-voltage and gives a wonderful atmosphere to your newly built deck.  But there are many different types of lighting that can add to your deck, including those you can do yourself or add to your existing lights.  If you can’t think of an easy way to add aesthetics to your yard, try lighting it the following ways.

Fiber Optic Lighting

 

This is a simple, inexpensive DIY project for your deck.  Fiber optic cables work with a single light source, as thin plastic tubing carries the light to wherever you want it to go.  Drill holes into your deck and feed the cables into it, giving your deck an awesome starry night effect.  The lighting produces no heat, and is safe from any type of weather.

 

Hanging and Strung Lights

 

These will add a peaceful and beautiful atmosphere to your deck.  Paper lanterns work well, as they are functional as well as easily matched to your deck furniture.  You can hang them from a pergola or the roof of a gazebo (especially helpful, as they won’t get wet and you won’t have to remove them for rainstorms).  You could also add a few fairy lights (christmas lights) or outdoor lighting strings.  Buying ones specifically made for the outdoors are your best bet, and run the least risk of electrocution.  They can be placed anywhere you need them and have amazing flexibility.

 

Tempered Safety Glass

 

Decorative, engraved glass can be implemented into your deck design for added aesthetic effect.  But, you could also place LED lighting above and below where the glass is installed.  This can lead to some very decorative and elegant engraved glass railings, or even just glass panel windows.
