Cedar
Cedar is one of the most affordable above-ground pool deck materials. It has some natural resistance to damage from insects and water, but you will still need to maintain it diligently to avoid getting splintered feet. Sweeping it clear of debris, washing it clean of stains and grime, and sealing it against water and stains are all necessary tasks to keep it in great condition. Cedar will eventually decay after about 20 years, but good care can help it last longer. Cedar is a great option for affordable decking upfront.
Composite
Composite decking is a mix of wood fibers and PVC plastic. This combination makes it much easier to maintain, but don’t be fooled. You will still need to sweep any debris away and wash it with an appropriate detergent and a bristle brush maybe once a year to preserve its good condition. Even so, when all is said and done, it is relatively easy to maintain a composite pool deck.
One possible downside is that composite decking can become hot in the sun. The trick is to choose a very light deck color. You could also add some shade.
Exotic Hardwood

They also remain cool, because wood does not absorb heat as easily as plastic. Like other pool deck materials, you want to care for it within reason. Do not let leaves, pollen, and dirt pile up on it. An occasional powerwash will do the trick to blast off stubborn dirt. Do not set the pressure too high, though!
