Pool Fence Requirements
Every Maryland county has specific pool fence requirements to follow to prevent accidental or near-drownings at residential swimming pools. The best way to ensure nobody gets hurt is to create a barrier around the pool.
According to Anne Arundel County’s Department of Health, a residential swimming pool is any body of water deeper than two feet, including forms such as in-ground pools, above-ground pools, hot tubs, and spas. It is also located on a one or two-family property. The fence or wall would fully enclose the pool. The barrier itself must be at least four feet high with gaps no more than 4 inches wide, and access gates must be self-closing and self-latching and locking.
Why Aluminum?
Aluminum is the strongest fencing material around, perfect for any property that needs durable security. Aluminum is highly durable and long-lasting and is also easy to maintain. All it requires is an occasional powerwash. One should only remember to not allow children to hang on the gate and avoid creating high and heavy piles beside the fence, lest it crash against it. Unlike cast iron, it will not rust and is much more lightweight. Aluminum also comes in varying styles and colors that blend in beautifully with the scenery.
