Today, we’re featuring one of our latest projects, a custom deck project made of low-maintenance materials and designed with functionality and safety in mind. Let’s take a look at this new custom deck project spotlight!
The Deck
The custom deck uses the best of materials from different premier low-maintenance deck material manufacturers to create an attractive, low-elevation backyard deck. To be specific, we installed a Trex spiced rum decking with a single picture frame and feature strips, plus matching fascia.
For the deck railing, we used a Timbertech black composite railing with square aluminum balusters. The deck railing posts are large, 6×6 posts with Cape May-style post caps and downward lighting. The deck’s stairs include step riser lights. Meanwhile, we chose deck gates by On-Guard to match the deck railing’s contoured top rail.
A Matching Gate
A matching, On-Guard deck gate with Shortie keyed safety latches offer safety and security. It keeps children safe on the deck and aids parental supervision. It is also a good safety measure for anyone who happens to be on the deck at night. On the flipside, a deck gate adds security to your home, adding just one more barrier between trespassers and you.
Custom Lighting
If there is any custom feature to add to your backyard deck, deck lighting is the most practical choice. It will improve safety and security on your deck, making it much easier for you to see and much harder for trespassers or wildlife to creep around unnoticed. Deck lighting on the stairs and the railing is practical and elegant for lighting up enjoyable evenings outside.
Custom “Boat Hatch”
This custom deck project in Maryland has one more special feature: a custom boat hatch that makes room for an exterior water spigot with a recessed loop you can pull out and lift to use. This deck certainly has everything it needs to spend many pleasant days outdoors in style and simplicity.
