Above all, the color of your pool deck material should be as light as possible to reflect the sunlight rather than absorb its heat.
Add a Shade Structure or Two
Shade also makes a huge difference not only overhead but also underfoot. There are all kinds of shade structures you can use to make your pool deck even cooler, like a pergola, a retractable awning, or a large outdoor umbrella.
Plant Trees
For more overarching, permanent shade, you can plant shade trees. Typically, planting a new tree or two will mean it will take some years before they can do their job of providing lots of shade. However, they may still be able to provide a little sooner than later, and you can still use the above methods to keep your pool deck cool.

Metal is most likely to absorb heat and will hurt when you touch it or sit on it in the hot summer sun! Metal furniture is beneficial in that it will last a long time and won’t blow away in the wind as easily. However, in summer, you can keep your pool deck even cooler with the help of some light-colored furniture. If you use metal chairs, light-colored cushions can help prevent a burn.
Add Outdoor Rugs
Lastly, outdoor rugs do a surprisingly good job of keeping pool decks cool enough underfoot. If your pool deck is still too hot, use a light-colored outdoor rug.
