Other Deck Design Considerations

Elevation

Mid-Atlantic Deck & Fence builds decks that are high, mid, and low elevation. We also build floating decks, which can also vary in elevation but usually are ground-level. If you go with a high-elevation deck, you can take the opportunity to create a second outdoor living space under the deck.

Levels

Despite your deck’s elevation, your deck design can also have multiple levels. The positioning and number of these levels can vary; they can cascade toward your backyard, or step down from one side of the house to the other. Levels help create different outdoor living zones.

Stairs

Deck stair designs also vary. Part of the design depends on the deck’s elevation. For example, a low-elevation deck might have cascading stairs that surround the entire deck, but a high-elevation deck might have a spiral staircase on one end.
