If you don’t like the cost of a full low-maintenance deck but also dread the extra maintenance of an all wood deck then go with a combination of the two! The railing is the most tedious part of the whole deck to stain or seal because of all the nooks and crannies that need to be covered. Eliminate the need for this with some vinyl railing while keeping the wood decking or floor. This is easy to stain as it only takes a few coats with a roller and you are done! Another benefit is that you can stain the decking any color that you like! All the low maintenance railing options are available for this application as well so you can do the black balusters, white, tan or khaki colors and any of the faux wood colors as well! This is a great way to keep cost and maintenance down at the same time and if you ever have any damage to a deck board it is a lot easier to fix than to replace an entire board.
